Screen Print / Litho Artwork
Requirements
When setting up files for traditional
(CMYK) printing processes, such as screen printing,
offset lithography or digital inkjet, please set
default working color space to “U.S. Web Coated
SWOP” not RGB. The additional available
color gamut in RGB won’t help you since it
can’t be printed in CMYK.
For projects where Pantone
color matches are
needed, please do not build spot colors
with CMYK equivalents, use the Pantone Swatches
instead.
LPI specifications for screen print should be determined
by end use viewing distance and substrate surface.
Please ask your Ink
Link print specialist for recommendations.
Programs supported:
Adobe Illustrator CS3
Adobe Photoshop CS3
Quark Express 7
Adobe
InDesign CS3
Transfer Media
DVD (Single Layer)
CD ROM
Layout
If the only file supplied is a Bitmap, save as an
RGB .TIFF or CMYK .EPS.
All files need to be proportional to their final
size.
All Bitmap files imported into layout programs (i.e.
Quark, etc.) must be CMYK in either .EPS, or .TIFF
formats (un-separated and uncompressed).
If Ink Link is to modify any imports (i.e. changing
PMS® colors), please supply the original editable
document (there will be an added charge for this
procedure).
Fonts
Provide both screen and printer fonts for the entire
document, alternatively convert all type to paths.
Do not use True Type Fonts!
Digital Ink Jet Format
Requirements
High quality output can be obtained at between 50-200
DPI at final size.
For best results on large black type or spot blacks,
set Black to 75C 65M 65Y 100K.
High Resolution Ink Jet
For 11 x 14 and smaller, aim for 200 DPI. Between
11 x 14 and 30 x 40, aim for 100 DPI. For files
above 30 x 40, aim for 60 DPI. Due to some system/storage
media limitations, your file size may need to be
smaller. Acceptable results can still be obtained
as low as 30 DPI.
Medium Resolution Ink Jet
For files that will be reproduced at 4’ x
8’ or larger, aim for 100 DPI at 100%.
For files that will be reproduced at 4’ x
8’ or under, aim for 150 DPI at 100%.
Due to some system limitations, your file size may
need to be smaller.
Acceptable results can still be obtained as low
as 30 DPI.
For very large sizes, consult with your Ink Link
print specialist.
Lambda / Lightjet Prints
Layout
If the only file supplied is a Bitmap, save it in
its original color space as a .TIFF or .EPS.
INK LINK will take care of converting them from
CMYK to RGB if needed.
All files need to be proportional to their final
size.
All Bitmap files imported into layout programs (i.e.
Quark, etc.) must be in their original color space
and placed as an .EPS, or .TIFF (unseperated and
uncompressed).
If INK LINK is to modify any imports (i.e. changing
PMS® colors), please supply the original editable
document (there will be an added charge for this
procedure).
Resolution
High quality output can be obtained at between 70-400
DPI at final size. For 15 x 20 and smaller, aim
for 400 DPI; between 15 x 20 and 30 x 40, aim for
200 DPI; for files larger than 30 x 40, aim for
100 DPI.
Due to some system/storage media limitations, your
file size may need to be smaller. Acceptable results
can still be obtained as low as 30 DPI.
